Show Notes

In this episode of Perspectives into Practice, I sat down with my new friend Dominika for a heart-to-heart about money, anxiety, and trust. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re trusting God or just trying to survive, this episode will hit home.

Dominika shares how a slow business season tested her faith, but instead of giving in to fear, she chose to lean into trust. What happened next? A powerful, last-minute provision that could only be explained by God's hand. Her story is a beautiful reminder that God not only provides. He often gives more than we expect.

We talk candidly about how fear creeps into our finances, what it really looks like to trust God practically, and how to discern His voice amid the noise. Dominika also shared a few of her favorite tools for staying grounded, including time in nature, journaling, and turning to God’s Word, especially Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

One of my favorite moments? When she said, “Sometimes it’s not that God is denying us, it’s that He wants us to know the blessing came from Him.” That’ll preach!

So friend, if your heart feels heavy or your wallet feels light, tune in. There's hope here.

Scripture Highlights:

Dominika’s one perspective to apply today? “Trust that God always provides… and He loves giving a little extra.”

[00:00:01] Speaker A: Hey friend. Welcome to Perspectives into Practice, a place where life's stories meet practical wisdom. Together we'll explore how faith filled perspectives can transform the way we live, love and grow. So grab a seat, settle in and join us on this journey to turn inspiration into action. Let's dive in. Hey friend. Welcome back to Perspectives into Practice. Today's conversation is one that so many of us need. A heart level perspective shift about money, anxiety and trust. I'm sitting down with my new friend Dominica, who has a powerful story and deep insight into how we can bring Jesus into our money mindset. So we're not going to be talking strategy or spreadsheets. We're going to be talking about how fear, faith and finances all intersect. So if you've ever wrestled with feeling anxious about money or questioned whether you're trusting God or just trying to survive, this episode's for you. Welcome, Dominica. [00:01:10] Speaker B: Hello. Thank you so much for having me. How are you doing yourself today? [00:01:14] Speaker A: I'm so well and I'm so glad that you're here. So before we dive into the deep stuff, you guys know I love a good fun fact. And Dominica's fun fact is that she has self published 54 books. That's right, 54 books. And that's a lot of determination and some serious creativity. What made you want to write and publish book? That's a lot. [00:01:41] Speaker B: Thank you. I know. So actually I have always wanted to become a published author but I always associated like publishing books with these like thick 500 page long books and that was really over overwhelming for me obviously. And also because of the fact that when you actually go through this traditional publishing journey, there are so many steps to it. It's, it's difficult to do, it takes a lot of time. So I actually kind of gave up on that idea. But then it came back to me because I found out about self publishing and I was like, wow, that could be for me. And I found out about like the fact that you can publish books that don't even have text inside of them, like coloring books, journals and stu, stuff like that. So I was like, let me give this a try. And at the time I was working just a regular 9 to 5 and I didn't like it. You know, it was good, it paid the bills. I was very grateful for it. But I was like, come on, like there's, there's more to life than this. So I was like, let me start doing it. And that's how I got started with it. And I just started publishing more and more and more. I fell in love with it and I still have more books coming. I'm not done yet. [00:02:59] Speaker A: Oh my gosh. I love that. Do you have a favor that you've published? [00:03:04] Speaker B: I think probably one of my favorites is a journal, and it's actually a Christian journal so people can buy it. And it's kind of like a gift that you give to your mom or to your dad. There are two versions of it. One is for mothers, one it's for fathers. And the journal, it's kind of something like you give this journal to your parent and there are questions in there about their faith, about their walk with God. So they get to write something, stuff inside of it and reflect on their journey of faith. And then they are supposed to give that journal back to you so that you can read it so that they can leave a legacy behind. So it's a beautiful gift and you get to learn more about your, the spiritual journey of your parents, which is very, very beautiful. So yes, I, I love this one so much. [00:03:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I've heard of books where you like give them the, to the parents and they write their, their story, but I love that take on it that they write their spiritual journey like their relationship with Lord. That's really cool. That is so awesome. [00:04:09] Speaker B: Wow. Thank you. [00:04:10] Speaker A: Well, well, speaking of dedication, that same passion shows up in the way that you approach faith and finances. And I know that you do a lot of videos about this, so I want to dive into your story. So can you take us back to, to a season when anxiety about money was affecting your decisions and even stealing your peace? [00:04:31] Speaker B: Absolutely, yes. And this is such a powerful topic because really God always tells us do not be anxious about anything. But actually majority of people still forget that this also includes money. And we worry about money and at different stages of our lives it's normal that we will have this anxiety. So actually there was a recent time, this summer, summer of 2025, back in July, I actually was faced with a lot of fear and anxiety in relation to money because in July, the month was kind of slow. So let me just give you a little bit of a backstory. So basically last year, September of 2024, I managed to quit my full time job and I decided to focus on self publishing books full time and coaching people about mind, God, faith, business and all that stuff full time. And obviously, most importantly, above all, I quit my full time job to get closer to God as well, to have this journey to getting to know more of him. Because that was really the key aspect for me and Something that I was very excited to do and something I felt like that's what I needed to do. So at the time when I quit my full time job, you know, everything was going well. Obviously there was some ups and downs as well in business and health and all that stuff. I got tested July this year. It was almost one year mark of my self employment and July was very, very slow for me. I mean almost no sales, no clients. And I was faced with a lot of anxiety in relation to what I should be doing moving forward. Should I keep showing up, should I keep doing it? Should I keep trusting or should I quit and do something else? And I was faced with this decision like okay, what do I need to do right now? Do I continue trusting? Because the thing was that I. The problem was not consistency, the problem was not my determination because I kept showing up every single day. I kept showing myself online, recording videos, going live every single day, coaching people. So this wasn't the problem behind the fact that I would be hiding or something. The problem was, I don't know what it was. But anyways, yeah, there was one. Yes, yes. And honestly I will get to that point because yeah, yeah, I know exactly what the lesson in this was. But anyways, so I was faced with this decision like okay, what should I do moving forward? Should I trust one more time or should I quit and do something else? Maybe it's a sign from God to pivot to do something else in life, you know, because sometimes that's what happens. [00:07:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:26] Speaker B: But I was like, okay, I really believe that this is what God wants me to do. I know that he wants me to share what he is, who he is, and help people in the process as well. Yeah. So I decided to literally like throw all my fear away and trust God one more time. And I said to myself, I'm done trying. I'm done trying to force things. I'm just going to trust. And at that point when I trusted and I leaned back, I didn't do anything differently. Literally, I didn't do anything differently. The only difference was I decided to trust one more time. And I said, no, I, I am not going to focus on the negative thoughts. I will be positive that God will provide for me. If you want me to do this, you will provide for me. Like I literally had so much choice that he is gonna look after me. And by the, and God waited till the very last moment of July and He blessed me with a thousand six hundred fifty eight dollar day, oh wow day. [00:08:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:36] Speaker B: You know, not week, not month day, and that was such a beautiful, beautiful lesson because I realized that sometimes it's not that God is denying us something, sometimes the case is that God just wants us to know that it came from him, so that we have no doubt that this came from Him. So he gave me money for, like, the rent for two months actually, and a little bit extra. So that's the beautiful thing. And the next month, what happened was even better because I had even more clients, even more sales. And God is just blessing me along this journey. So I am super grateful. But, yeah, it just shows that trust, actually leaning back, it's the key to success. Because we try to force too many things sometimes to just happen. We keep pushing, we burn ourselves out. But really, God just wants us to trust Him. [00:09:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:09:38] Speaker B: So that's what happened. [00:09:40] Speaker A: Yes. Oh, my gosh, that is beautiful. So what are the practical things that you do to continue to press that fear away? Because I'm sure that in our human minds, we think, well, if it's happened once, it'll happen again. What are some things that you have implemented now to keep that fear away? [00:09:58] Speaker B: I think the most important, it's obviously always going back to prayer and always going back to what God really says. What's the truth? And even just asking yourself a question at a point like this, a point of unknown uncertainty, just asking yourself, what is the truth here? Is it true that God wants me to pivot, change things, quit? Or is it true that he will provide, he will take care of me? What's the truth here? Just praying, asking for guidance, asking for direction. That's really, really, really important. And just time to actually pause instead of being impulsive. I am actually a very impulsive person. Like, I act instantly a lot of the times. But God is showing me it's important to sometimes pause and reflect, and most importantly, to connect back to Him. Connect back to Him. Because a lot of us feel like God cannot communicate with us. God is silent. Why is God not talking to me? I am confused. Majority of the times we are confused because we might be getting distracted by certain things. So we cannot hear God's voice because we are too distracted. So it's important to turn off all the distractions, isolate yourself from the phone, from technology, go somewhere out in the nature, spend some quiet time with God. Because God cannot talk to you if you are distracted, if your mind is occupied, if you have five songs playing and 50 tabs open in your mind. [00:11:33] Speaker A: Geez, you don't have to tell them all my secrets. Yes, you're right. [00:11:39] Speaker B: Honestly, yes, but that's how it is. [00:11:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:43] Speaker B: It's important to allow that quiet time for God to actually be able to talk to you. [00:11:49] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:11:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:50] Speaker A: Because he's. He's not. Not talking to you. It's us that aren't able to listen because we just have too much, we have too much going on. And he's. He's like, like, you don't have to do that much. And I, I'm, I am like you. I probably put too much on my plate. I can be impulsive. So I'm like, oh, that looks fun and shiny. Let's do that. But is it actually what I needed to do? Probably not, but. But you're right. Staying in prayer and reading God's word is pivotal to knowing what to do next, because His Word tells us. And we can't know his voice if we don't know his voice. And he wrote the holy Scriptures, and that is Him. So when you go, I don't know, does that sound like me or Him? Well, what does the Bible say? So are there any scriptures that you can point our listeners to or that you really enjoy that could help with that? [00:12:47] Speaker B: Absolutely. I think obviously the most powerful, like I said in the beginning, is, is the Bible verse which says, be anxious for nothing and instead, with prayer and thanksgiving, turn everything over to God. [00:13:02] Speaker A: Yes. [00:13:02] Speaker B: And this is really the key to unlocking everything in life. Gratitude, being thankful. But then remember, and don't worry about anything. What is anything? It's, it includes money, it includes health, it includes relationships, it includes jobs, where you're going to live. It's everything. [00:13:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:13:24] Speaker B: Don't worry about anything. And sometimes we are anxious about money because we have times of uncertainty. And it's normal for us to get anxious, to get fearful, but it's important to turn it back to God and say, no, God, I trust you, and if you have a better plan, show it to me. Yeah. And then also actually something that changed my life the most has been the book of Proverbs in general. The book of Proverbs is so powerful because, you know, a lot of us look at the Bible as if it's a book of rules. That's how I, that's how I used to look at it. I used to think that Bible is just a big book of rules. God might want to control us, but no, actually, when you switch your mindset and say, and start looking at it from a perspective of Bible is actually a book to guide us to a better life. The book of Proverbs is so powerful because it's going to teach you about working, about money, about health, like all the truths about how you should live your life and how to have a better life. So this is so powerful and honestly, it's something that I will definitely go back to in my life. [00:14:35] Speaker A: Maybe you can write a book about that. [00:14:38] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:14:39] Speaker A: Or a Proverbs journal. [00:14:42] Speaker B: Oh yeah, honestly, Honestly. I was even contemplating one time to made a master class just about the book of Proverbs. So maybe it's going to come back to me. You know, obviously it's something I keep praying about and I have to, you know, I don't have all the answers only God has, but God can use me in different ways. So yeah, this is something I definitely keep praying about. It comes back and goes. So I still have to figure out what's the best approach for this, you know, because yeah, there is a lot to it. There is a lot. [00:15:14] Speaker A: There is. [00:15:15] Speaker B: But yes, absolutely. [00:15:17] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that would, that would be a good one. I love, I love proverbs and I love how even if you don't understand poetry and the, the, the rhythm and cadence of them, the, the depth of the words inside and the meaning is so, so, so powerful and I love that. So how do you discern when you are trusting God or slipping back into self reliance? Not just listening because we, we hear a lot of things that come into our mind. But the discernment of is this for me, is this Jessica or Jesus? Right. Is this the God, God speaking? Is this what I'm really reading? [00:15:55] Speaker B: Yeah. So for me, a lot of the times when we go through a phase of trial or fear or uncertainty, our mind starts just spinning around, spinning around, creating worst case scenarios and allowing the fear to kind of stop us. So it's important to like I kind of mentioned before, to go back and ask yourself, is this really what God says? Or it's something that I believe in, Is it a limiting belief of mine? Or it's actually God telling me, no, this is not for you, this is not the time. So yes, I feel like just pausing, taking the time to really think about it. Pray, pray, pray, pray. It's so important. God will reveal to you whether this is for you or no, whether you should take this direction or no. And also actually we all have a gift of discernment. We all have the power of discernment. So actually when you know that something is wrong or something, it's definitely a no. No, you actually will feel it. There is a difference between like logic and intuition. So basically, or logic is like, oh, I am afraid maybe this will not work out. What if God will not provide? What if God doesn't want me to do this, do that. But intuition is something that you actually feel deep inside of you. It's that God's voice and that peace. So when God answers us and when he gives us direction, you actually will feel peace, even if you're afraid to do something. Because sometimes God will push you. God will want you to do things that are uncomfortable, but you will actually have that peace, that certainty inside of you that's like, yes, this is definitely the right direction. I might be uncomfortable, but it is coming from God. There is like, no doubt. [00:17:50] Speaker A: Yeah, that's. That's so good. And you're right. That peace, when it is, when it does line up with His Word and you know that this is what it is. You're right. If it might still be uncomfortable and it might still be something that you don't want to do, but you feel that inner peace and that. I really feel that that comes with a good relationship with the Lord and not just head knowledge of what he can do. Because, you know, people say, oh, if you have a gut. I have a gut feeling about this. A lot of times that's discernment. [00:18:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Most of the time you should listen. [00:18:27] Speaker A: And I feel like it's the same thing with the Lord, but with peace. And that's. That's the big thing I feel like a lot of us are missing is we don't have that absolute peace. Peace even in the discomfort. Or we do have that peace, but it's just. It's discomforting. [00:18:45] Speaker B: Yes. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Uncomfortable. And we don't. We don't want to. [00:18:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:18:51] Speaker A: So what would you say to someone that might be skeptical to listen in. In that, you know, in. In their finances or in their money struggles, might be skeptical to listen to it and like, what might be a next easy step for them to take in trusting the Lord in that. [00:19:09] Speaker B: Absolutely. This is a beautiful question. And honestly, I could talk about it for hours because it's very powerful. But it all comes back to looking at the truth from God, which is God is actually limitless. God is abundant. And what really changed my life, it's realizing that, like, God really has it all. He's all powerful. He's all abundant. Everything is his. So in heaven there are streets of gold. Streets of gold. We will not be. We will not be poor or anything like that. Not that it will matter, but what I'm trying to say is the thing that we worry about, which is money, wealth we will be walking on it. Yeah. So if God created heaven and there are streets of gold, wouldn't he also look after you? So that really, really changed my life. And building a better relationship with money also changed my life. Realizing that money is not a bad thing. Because if money would be a bad thing, Jesus himself wouldn't be using it when he was here on earth. Jesus used money. So money is not evil. It's what people do with it, how they get it, that can become evil. [00:20:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:26] Speaker B: But knowing that actually I am a good person, I am a beautiful human being, and more money in my hands, it's good for the world. That can actually help you get out of the situation that you're in. And also, obviously coming back to trust. Maybe you just need to check yourself. Do you trust enough? Do you trust enough? Because majority of people have trust issues and that's normal because people failed us, people hurt us, people discouraged us, demotivated us, didn't look after us, didn't love us the way we wanted. So we have trust issues. But God is different. God is different. He keeps all of his promises. So if God promised us that he will look after us, then he will look after us. So maybe we just need more faith and maybe we just need to trust more. So always trying to check yourself, is it me problem? Am I the problem? Not that you're like a big problem or anything, because you know that's not what I'm saying. But a lot of the times it's our fate. Lack of faith actually and lack of trust that creates this kind of bad relationship with money, bad relationship with God. God always looks after you. He will look after you. And everybody has evidence of that from the past. You are here, you are alive, you are looked after. So in your past, God also looked after you because otherwise you wouldn't be here today. So just reminding yourself of the times when, when maybe you were going through some hardship and God looked after you. That gives you the evidence that God will look after you again. [00:22:06] Speaker A: Amen. [00:22:06] Speaker B: It all comes back to trust and faith. Trust and faith. [00:22:10] Speaker A: I love that. Oh, Dominica, I have absolutely loved this conversation. You've given us a lot of peace and clarity about this topic. That really can feel so heavy. But before we wrap up, I've got a question that I ask every guest and that is what is one perspective that you would encourage listeners to apply today? [00:22:31] Speaker B: Just trusting that God always provides. Trust in that. God always provides and he loves giving extra. He provides and he gives a little extra. He is like that because he loves you. He cares about you. He will always look after you. Give all of your worries to him. Be anxious for nothing if you repeat that to yourself. Repeat that to yourself daily. God has my back. I trust you. God, I trust you. This is gonna change your life. Because honestly, it changed mine. Yeah. [00:23:03] Speaker A: Love that. I love that. Love that. Friend. If I hope that today's conversation gave you the freedom to believe that God cares about your finances not just in provision, but in peace. And if you're listening today and thinking, hey, that reminds me of a time that God showed up in the middle of my own uncertainty, I want you to know your story matters. And here at Perspectives into Practice, we believe that every faith filled perspective carries the power to encourage uplift and remind someone else that they're not alone. So if something in your heart is stirring right now, don't brush it off, please. I'd love to hear your story. Just follow the link in the show notes or message me directly and we'll sit down for a future episode together. And remember, even small shifts in perspective can lead to big changes. Now go put those perspectives into practice. Talk to you next time.
